Steve and his family permanently settled in Bridgewater in 2002 when he accepted a position as the Operations Leading Chief at the Sugar Grove Navy Base. After retirement from the Navy with 23 active years and 30 years total federal service, he sought to serve again locally and was appointed to the Board of Zoning Appeals and then to the Planning Commission (ultimately becoming the Chairman) for the Town of Bridgewater. First elected to Town Council in 2012, he is currently Chairman of the Ordinance Committee and also serves as a member of the Finance Committee.
Steve is involved in many Veteran, civic and church activities locally and across Virginia and was selected by the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors as a Commissioner for the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission (CSPDC). A regional native who takes pride in the rich culture and history of the area, his desire is to proactively represent the citizens of Bridgewater while making it the ideal place to call home and a great place for people to visit. Steve holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College, a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration from the University of Virginia, and a Master’s Degree in Executive Leadership (MAEL) from Liberty University. He is married to his high school sweetheart Debbie and they have two sons Daniel (Alyssa) and Justin.
